  1. Last week a man, unfortunately, lost his life due to injuries he sustained in a fire that occurred at the Cedar Place Apartments. The fire crew was alerted about the ongoing flame at 5:15 p.m. and it was extinguished 20 minutes later. The victim Michael Johnstone was transported to the University of Michigan Health for treatment but unfortunately passed away from his injuries. (WLNS 6 News)
  2. Starting today (Jun. 6) a farmers market will take place from 3:00-7:00 p.m. every Tuesday until the end of September at Reutter Park in Lansing. Whether you are looking for fresh goods, treats for your pets, or even things like live music and yoga, the market may have something for you. The city has heard complaints about the high number of unhoused people in the park and they are continuing to seek ways to assist those in need both in the park and in the community. (WKAR)
  3. Voting continues to get easier for Lansing residents now that voters can apply online to be on the Permanent Ballot List with the City Clerk's office. To do so all voters have to do is add their license or state ID, enter the last four digits of their social security number, and check off a box stating that they want to be placed on the list. This list allows officials to send out a ballot for every election including the upcoming one in August, you can expect this election's ballot to arrive sometime in early July.   • It is officially Adopt-A-Cat Month and there is no better place to look than the Capital Area Humane Society. Damira, a sweet two-year-old starts off shy but warms up fast and will be a great addition to any home dynamic. Damira is the Pet of the Week and her adoption fee has been reduced.
