Anchor Bay Community Foundation Accepts Scholarship Applications

Graduating high school seniors who live in the Anchor Bay School District are eligible.

Anchor Bay Community Foundation announced this week that higher education scholarships are available for high school seniors within Anchor Bay school district boundaries.

 The scholarships are:

  • Joseph P. Abell Performing Arts
  • Bette Dunlap Carrothers Vocal Music
  • Stuart MacDonald Business
  • Keith W. Marcola Medical
  • Justin Mello Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice
  • Michael Osadchuk for Students with Varsity Tennis Letter
  • Ann M. Ruzzin Fine Arts
  • Frank C. Ruzzin Science/Engineering
  • Wayne & Joan Webber Engineering/Medicine.

 Two new scholarships were added in 2011-12:

  • The Steve and Gloria Whittlesey Scholarship is directed to students seeking general business degrees.
  • The Lois and Dick Pierson Hard Hats & Tool Belts Scholarship is for students intending to pursue further education in technical, mechanical or construction fields through college, technical, trade school or apprenticeship.

The Foundation also administers two scholarships funded by the New Baltimore Lions Club. The Lions Club Scholarship and the Bob Johnson Memorial Math and Science Scholarship are for students who have participated in some form of community service.

Applications must be received by April 30. All of these applications are available by calling 586-421-4694 or at the and on the school website at www.anchorbay.misd.net.

Additionally, the Velma Cullen MacDonald Continuing Education Scholarship  provides assistance to college students who have completed their sophomore year in a four-year college or university. This application, which can be obtained by calling the number above, must be received by May 25.
