Anchor Bay Recreation Committee May Form
New Baltimore officials are exploring the idea of creating a regional recreation committee for residents in the Anchor Bay Schools District.

New Baltimore officials are interested in teaming up with neighboring communities for recreation.
In a closed session Monday, City Council decided to explore the possibility of forming a recreation committee with towns in the , including Chesterfield Township, Ira Township and New Baltimore. Ideally, the committee would help increase recreational opportunities in the area. One suggestion discussed was leasing the for various classes, clerk Marcia Shinska said.
No official details of a possible committee have been set as plans are in preliminary stages.

However, at the council meeting Monday, councilwoman Florence Hayman expressed displeasure in recreation center programming. She requested Parks and Recreation Director Mike Hoffard attend the next regularly scheduled meeting to discuss what she referred to as limited options for children under 6.
Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Carlos Aprea, who attended the meeting, said Hayman is mainly referring to swimming classes for young children like her granddaughter at the city . Aprea said he would like to hire lifeguards for those types of classes, but there isn't money in the department's budget.
