Günter Titsch, president of the World Choir Games sent the certificate of qualification for the highest level of vocal competition to the Anchor Bay Stars ‐ Glee Club: Champions Competition of the 2012 World Choir Games.

Referred to as the Olympics of choral music, the World Choir Games are the largest choir competition in the world. Groups in this classification have either won an international title, a national level award, or they have auditioned for the WCG directors and qualified based on their exceptional performance.

Recently, the Anchor Bay Stars were showcased on the Fox 2 Detroit morning show. Thousands of metro Detroit viewers were tuned in to hear and see the group's performance. This performance was also seen by a member of the World Choir Games. "After just a few seconds of hearing and seeing this wonderful group, I had to pick up the phone and call them" said Kim Durr, North American Choral Relations Representative of Interkultur Foundation (The organizers of the World Choir Games).

The phone call came as quite a surprise to Anchor Bay Stars' Director Blair Cremeens. "We work very hard at what we do but to be associated with the best international vocal groups is real testimony to the dedication and effort that is put forth every week by each Stars' member."

Contributions may be sent directly to the Anchor Bay Stars group or through the Anchor Bay Community Foundation (a 501C3 organization). The vocal group was founded by Blair Cremeens, the director of the glee club with help from his long time friend, Kim LaDuke. Blair and Kim attended Anchor Bay High School in the early 80's and sang together in the Anchor Bay Ensemble. Both Blair and Kim have volunteered without pay for over a year to bring this group to where it is today.

"The challenge now will be to secure the funding and support needed to train and send these young singers to the competition of their lifetime," said Cremeens.
