An autopsy conducted Thursday on the unidentified child determined the cause of death as accidental asphyxiation, Chesterfield Township Police Chief Bruce Smith said.
The parents had put the baby down in her castle toddler bed next to her 2-year-old brother in his race car toddler bed for the late afternoon nap. But, the baby woke up soon after and moved from where she slept, Smith said.

"The child was able to somehow stand on the bed and somehow got caught in the loop" of the vertical blinds, Smith said.
Although the window blind cord was not hanging low by the floor, it was reachable when the baby stood on the bed. The bed was nearby the wall but not pushed directly against it, he said.
"It's just a real tragic thing," he said. "All the neighbors remarked what good parents they are."
The Home Safety Council, a national nonprofit group dedicated to preventing home-related injuries, cautions parents not to hang anything with strings or ribbons over cribs.Â
