Click It or Ticket Nets Nearly 100 Seat Belt Violators
Chesterfield Township police have been on increased alert for drivers sans safety belts in the last week.

Enforcing the , Chesterfield Township police issued nearly 100 tickets to seat belt violators in the past week.
On Tuesday, police reported their five, four-hour patrols dedicated to the campaign led to 135 traffic stops and 90 citations for lack of safety belt use. The stops also prompted officers to write 15 other tickets for civil driving infractions as well as five arrests for driving on suspended licenses and two drug-related arrests, police said.
The number of tickets issued to date under the campaign are slightly higher than last year in Chesterfield, according to township police Sgt. Robert Finazzo.

The statewide safety belt enforcement effort ends June 5.
