Coast Guard Rescues Four on Lake St. Clair

The U.S. Coast Guard, with the assistance of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, rescued four people from a boat in Lake St. Clair.

Four people were rescued Sunday by the U.S. Coast GuardΒ from a boat that was taking on waterΒ in Lake St. Clair.

Coast Guard Sector Detroit received a call at 9:48 a.m. Sunday from the operator of a 29-foot vessel that was taking on water about four miles offshore from Beacon Cove Marina in Lake St. Clair, according to a release.

A boat crew fromΒ Coast Guard Station St. Clair ShoresΒ responded to the call, along withΒ two boats from theΒ Macomb County Sheriff's Office, to the vessel with Β two adults and two children onboard.Β

The four boaters were transferred toΒ Coast Guard vessel and taken to shore. A broken intake hose on the boat, which officials report was the source of the flooding, was secured and the vessel was towed to the marina.

The names and hometowns of the four people rescued are not being released.
