Did Gov. Rick Snyder Win Re-Election?

Democrat challenger Mark Shauer was up against the incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Snyder.

Republican incumbent Gov. Rick Snyder was re-elected to his position Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Michigan’s 2014 midterm elections, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Snyder, who has been the governor of Michigan since 2011, was elected over primary Democrat opponent Mark Schauer. Snyder led with 53 percent of the vote, compared to Shauer’s 45 percent.

The win marks a victory for the Michigan GOP, as Shauer was expected to undo many of the economic decisions Snyder had made while in office.
