Do Your Sidewalks Need Repair? New Baltimore Might Think So

Homeowners on several city streets will received letters within a week to inform them of the work that needs to be done on sidewalks.

New Baltimore residents near broken or damaged sidewalks will be informed within a week they need to have them fixed.

City Building Official Greg Nikkel said several sidewalks along city streets were marked this week for repair. Homeowners will be notified by mail that the repair work will need to be done in August or September. They will have a choice to hire a contractor on their own or have the city do the work, Nikkel said.

Residents who have city employees complete the repairs will be billed for the work, as mandated by ordinance. Payment plans will be offered to homeowners and exact costs will vary per household, he said.
