Letter from Chesterfield Township Police Chief: MADD Winner Keeps Public Safe
Chesterfield Township Police Chief Bruce Smith acknowledges Eric Meier's efforts in catching drunken drivers.

It gives me great pride to announce that the 2011 Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) award winner is Eric Meier.Β
Once again Eric has led the department with 39 drunk driving arrests.Β Eric has consistently been the departmentβs MADD award winner for many years.Β He was given as one of the top ten officers in the entire state for his efforts to get drunken and drugged drivers off of the Townshipβs roadways. I want to give myΒ personal thanks to Eric for the outstanding job he did in 2011 as well as his past achievements.Β Eric stands out among his peers as one of the most effective police officers across the state.
Ericβs efforts are a credit to his training, his personal work ethic, to our department and to the law enforcement profession as a whole.Β Not only are these efforts personally rewarding, they are beneficial to society as a whole as the number of drunk drivers across the nation have been declining over the past ten years. While we in law enforcement have a long way to go in this area, it is satisfying to see that the personal efforts of so many officers have been effective in reducing drunken drivers and the associated accidents that are a result of the behavior.
