A generation ago, many kids never heard the phrase "time out." But, in today's culture, the naughty chair is often considered standard punishment when children become unruly. Some label spanking as outdated, unhelpful and, even, downright mean. While others think it's often a useful—albeit more old school—tool of discipline.
