Staying Safe on St. Patrick's Day in Macomb County

Local residents can take a pledge not to drive under the influence and book transportation before the St. Paddy celebrations begin.

Before the green beer is poured, the shamrocks uncovered and the St. Patrick's Day parties officially commence, here's some things to keep in mind to stay safe and possibly save lives.

Pledge to stay sober

  • To promote safety on St. Patrick's Day, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers encourages the public to take pledges online--one for designated drivers and another not to drive after drinking.
  • A  Sober Drivers Pledge is also available at DrinkingandDriving.org.

Drunken driving claims lives

In the past five years, there were 1,323 drunken driving fatalities and 255 alone in the recent year in Michigan, according to MADD.
