Two Chesterfield Companies Selected for Pure Michigan Program

A popular handmade pie business and manufacturer in the township were among 54 small and midsized companies chosen for the business development initiative.

Two Chesterfield Township companies just got a major boost from a Michigan business development initiative.

and were among the 54 small and midsized companies in the state chosen for the Pure Michigan Business Connect Economic Gardening Pilot Program. In total, six companies in Macomb County were selected for the program, according to a news release from Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.

“Our six companies represent 11 percent of all that were selected,” Hackel said in the prepared statement. “We take this as a clear sign that Macomb County businesses are in good position to meet our new economy with prosperity. I’m glad to see the state recognize that capability and invest in their future and Macomb County’s future, too.”

The family-owned Achatz Handmade Pie Company grew from with multiple locations. Its headquarters is in Chesterfield. DAGER Systems manufactures automotive customer secondary and assembly equipment.

  • Coliant Corporation (Powerlet) in Warren
  • Elite Mold & Engineering in Shelby Township
  • Ideal Technology Corporation in Shelby Township 
  • Sharp Model in Romeo

The six businesses in the county are clients of the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development and were nominated for the program by county staff.  A total of 108 nominations from economic development agencies were received from throughout the state. They were eligible based on the type and size of market they serve, growth potential and the likelihood that they would benefit from services, according to the county.
