Waterfront Restaurant in New Baltimore? Patch Readers Call for Something 'Local,' 'Fresh,' 'Creative'

New Baltimore-Chesterfield Patch readers shared their thoughts, via our Facebook page, on a proposed new waterfront development. What do you think should go there?

Our Facebook fans shared their thoughts on Mayor Larry Smith's vision for . Here's what they had to say about it:

  • Diane Forwood McIntosh: I'm all for a restaurant going in downtown! As for a big-Detroit restaurant not so much. I would rather see a restaurant go in with a chef who uses our local growers produce to create something unique and also moderately priced. Something New Baltimore can be known for not something we had to borrow.Β
  • Gary E Strobel: The water front needs a mix. Some shops. Some restaurants. Some bed and breakfast locations. Some pubs to draw from the area and the lake! New Baltimore has the potential to be a destination port!!!! The only of it's kind on LSC.
  • Anna C. Webb: It's time to bring this place to life!!!!!!
  • Debra Ann Hempsted-Strobel: Lets move forward with bringing business to downtown. People want to be there but it has no place except for the beach and the slippery rock to sit and enjoy.
  • Jill Spurlin Mostek: Reasonably priced, healthy dishes, creative cooking, family friendly, big outdoor patio. I also agree with what Diane McIntosh said. :)
  • Patti Krusell Denomme: I'm all for a new restaurant in the city but do we really need another chain restaurant? How about some fresh local ingredients, a creative menu and healthy options? I'd be more likely to patronize that type of restaurant.
