37-Year-Old Northville Man Charged with Sex Crimes After Running Away with Teen

A judge set a $2 million bail for Robert Louis Messer, of Northville, who faces charges of multiple sex crimes after disappearing with a teenager Oct. 24.

Robert Louis Messer, 37, of Northville, plead not guilty to multiple sex crimes in 35th District Court in Plymouth Thursday.

Messer was charged in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Plymouth Township teen, Emily Lalinsky. The pair ran away together on Oct. 24, leaving behind notes expressing their love for one another, according to police. Messer is a longtime friend of Lalinsky's family, according to Plymouth Township Police Lt. Cal Lauria. 

Police found the pair in Washtenaw County on Tuesday in a field near Seven Mile and Chubb Road in Salem Township.

Officials say that Messer had sexual contact with the girl at locations in Wayne and Washtenaw County. 

Messer faces charges of  one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree and one count of Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes. 

Bond was set at $2 million. A preliminary examination will be held Nov. 8 at 8:30 a.m at 35th District Court.
