Amerman Elementary to Install Solar Panels

The Northville students will celebrate solar energy throughout the day Wednesday with solar race cars and a solar cook-off.

Northville's Amerman Elementary School is getting a 2.7-kilowatt solar system.

The school's fourth grade class spent a year researching and raising funds for the solar array, a system of several solar panels. It was made possible by donations and discounts from several Michigan-based businesses.

Before the solar array’s commissioning ceremony Wednesday during the school's Solar Celebration, students will showcase solar-science projects, including a solar-powered mini-car race and solar cooking demonstration.

When: Wednesday, June 5, 2013
