Crime Report: Dog Who Bit Northville Resident May Have Been Defending Himself

Dog may have bitten city resident in self-defense
A Golden Retriever dog broke free from his owner while on a walk on May 12 and ultimately bit the owner of another dog nearby. According to city police reports, the incident might have been provoked.
Two witnesses and the dog owner say that the dog broke free from the owner and ran to the man, who was walking near Elmsmere and Holmbury streets, according to the report. They told police the man grabbed the dog by the collar and did not let go until the dog bit. They also said the man held the dog upright while he was standing on his hind legs.
The man who was bitten told police the dog charged him and his dog. He said he got between the two when the other dog jumped on him and bit him. He also told police that he grabbed him by the collar to try and get him off. At the scene, he refused medical attention and was left with a puncture and teeth marks on his arm.

The policeman who investigated the incident wrote in his report that he visited the home of the dog accused of biting the man and found him to be "friendly."
The owner of the dog accused of biting the man will need to provide veterinary reports to the police department to show he is in good health.

Jewelry reported stolen
A city resident reported to township police that he discovered jewelry was stolen from his home while packing to move.
According to city police reports, the house has been shown to various couples in an effort to sell it. Because no other valuable items were stolen, police believe the items may have been misplaced rather than stolen.
Truck break-in reported
A resident on the 20000 block of Woodcreek Boulevard reported to Northville Township police that someone broke into his pick-up truck. The man said the contents of his glove box were strewn about the passenger seat. Nothing appeared to be stolen. The incident occurred sometime between May 11 and May 12.
Car reported stolen
A man on the 16000 block of Algonquin Drive reported his 1999 silver Honda Civic was stolen on May 13. It was parked in front of his home.
