Get Cozy at Northville Sports Den's New Outdoor Patio

The outdoor patio has three new fire places.

The good weather is finally here and that means it's time for outdoor dining in Northville.

The Northville Sports Den opened its renovated outdoor patio about three weeks ago and it's been filling up ever since. The biggest new addition to the patio are the three fire places.

"We wanted to give people a place to wait," said Jamie Morse, event coordinator at the Sports Den.

Patio diners can rest on benches along the new stone wall to gather around the fire places. They can also sit back and watch the games on two wall-mounted flat screen televisions.

She said the original patio improvement plans included saving the three trees. However, new trees had to be planted in their place.

"A lot of people were upset about the trees. We were upset, too," Morse said.

The new trees are planted in a way that will let them grow bigger, she said.

Northville's Downtown Development Authority gave the Sports Den $5,000 for its patio renovations for improving downtown's look, Morse said. People have been noticing the patio as they walk the streets, she said, and will stop to check out the new additions.

The construction took about five weeks and more improvements are to follow. The east end of the patio is notorious for noise from a neighboring loading dock. Morse said the Sports Den is adding a custom screen that won't block the sun but will block the street noise.

The Northville Sports Den is already taking advantage of the new patio by offering promotions like "Patio Party Wednesdays."

"In the summer, we're always on a wait list for the patio," Morse said.

So act fast if you want to dine outdoors at the Sports Den.
