Interested in Serving on Northville School Board? Applications Due Today For Interim Seat

As of Wednesday afternoon only two applications have been submitted.

In stark contrast to the in replacing former Northville school board member Joan Wadsworth , there have only been two applications received to replace .

Bartschat announced earlier this month that she would be leaving in July for Germany, where her husband will be working.

School board president Dottie Garrity said that as of Wednesday afternoon only two people have submitted applications and another expressed an intent to file at Tuesday's school board meeting.

The board will follow an similar to that used to appoint a replacement for Wadsworth, which is .

The appointee selected to replace Bartschat will serve until December and have to run in the November election to keep the seat for the remainder of the term. Bartschat's term would end in December 2016.

The board will ask questions of the candidates but they will not be pre-determined or prior disclosed questions, Garrity said. There was a limited number of questions in the last round of interviews to replace Wadsworth.

"We’re not limiting follow-up this time," she said. "If board members have follow-up questions we will allow it."

Applications for the position and the school board's bylaws are due Thursday and are available online at the school district website.

Candidate interviews are expected to take place next month.
