Man Arrested for Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia Possession

The following information was supplied by Northville police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Northville police arrested a man on April 13 of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

An officer noticed a red 1997 Ford Thunderbird heading southbound on Griswold Street at East Main Street that had tinted front driver and passenger windows, the report said.

According to the report, the officer stopped the vehicle, and the driver said he did not know he could not have window tints. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and noticed the man appeared to be nervous when speaking.

The officer said he could smell the marijuana and asked the man how much he had, but the man said he was smelling his cigarettes and denied it was marijuana.

The officer called for a K-9 unit to search his vehicle. While the officer waited for dispatch to respond, the man handed him a container with marijuana inside, according to the report.

When the officer asked where the pipe was to smoke the marijuana, the man said it was in the center console. The officer searched vehicle and found a glass pipe and rolling papers, according to the report.

The substance in the container and the pipe tested positive for marijuana, the report said. The man was arrested on charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 

The suspect has an 8:30 a.m. hearing April 29 at 35th District Court.
