Man Arrested on Charges of Marijuana, Paraphernalia Possession

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

City of Northville police arrested a man 5:31 p.m. May 3 at the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Novi Street on charges of possessing marijuana and paraphernalia, according to a police report.

The officer saw the driver of a green 2000 Ford Escort turn onto northbound Novi Street from eastbound Eight Mile Road during the posted no-left-turn hours, the report said.

The officer stopped the driver who said he saw the sign but was running late for work, according to the report. The officer detected an odor of marijuana, the report said, and the man said he had marijuana in the glove box. Inside  the glove box was a glass pipe and a glass container with a green leafy substance inside, according to the report.

The officer asked him to step out of the vehicle and handcuffed him, the report said. He searched the car and also found zig-zag rolling papers inside the center console, according to the report.

The officer arrested the man and field tested the substance, which came back positive for marijuana, the report said. The pipe was also tested, at the police station, and came back positive for marijuana, according to the report.

The man has an 8:30 a.m hearing May 20.
