Northville Pharmacist's License Suspended After Felony Convictions

Lokesh Tayal was convicted of two felonies, including health care fraud.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) immediately suspended the license of Northville pharmacist Lokesh Tayal based on his conviction in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

Tayal was convicted in January of one count of Health Care Fraud Conspiracy and one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Controlled Substances, both of which are felonies.  He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 68 months and ordered to pay more than $3 million in restitution.

LARA issued an order on June 10 summarily suspending Tayal’s license according to the Public Health Code, which indicates that a summary suspension of a health professional’s license  is mandatory upon the conviction of a felony.
