*Data for each of these indicators were standardized using z-scores, in order to measure the relative performance of each school, and then weighted to produce an overall Newsweek score for each school.
The list is based on six components:
- graduation rate - 25 percent
- college acceptance rate - 25 percent
- Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB)/Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) tests taken per student - 25 percent
- average SAT/ACT scores - 10 percent
- average AP/IB/AICE scores - 10 percent
- percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course - 5 percent
Northville High School is in the process of adding an International Baccalaureate program, which is part of what determines a school's ranking.
"So our ranking only stands to improve," Behnke said.
