Northville Township Police Warn Against 'Gypsy Scams'
Several older adults had their homes burglarized in November.

Northville Township advises residents to be on the look out for "gypsy scams," which have been occuring in Northville Township and Novi.
The one attempt in Northville Township was unsuccessful; however the scam worked in Novi.
Victims received a knock on the door or were approached while standing in their driveway by a female, who tells the victims that she is moving to the neighborhood and has some questions. She then works her way into the home through conversation and will distract the victim(s) typically away from the front door.
The female will engage the victims into conversations about a scar on her stomach and has gone as far as lifting up her shirt to show her stomach. This is believed to be a distraction to prolong the conversation so a male subject can enter the house to take items which includes jewelry from the bedroom.
