Parent Sees Suspicious Person Near Northville School
Police arrest a man for indecent exposure but do not know if he is the same person reported to be near the school.

In a memorandum to Northville schools, City of Northville police reported that a parent saw a suspicious vehicle around 8 a.m. Friday while dropping off his or her child at a local private school.
The parent reported that a white male, approximately 50 years old with gray hair and possibly a gray beard, parked a gray Chevrolet Avalanche in front of the school, according to police.
The man left the area after making eye contact with the parent and was last seen heading southbound on Orchard Drive near Main Street. Officers checked the area but could not find the man or vehicle.
About two and a half hours later, Northville Township police arrested a similarly described white male in a blue Chevrolet Avalanche after a complaint of indecent exposure in the area of Six Mile and Haggerty roads, police said.
Police do not know if the arrested man is the same one from the earlier complaint.
The Northville school district offers these tips when dealing with suspicious strangers:
- Please review and reinforce safety procedures with your children.
- Students who walk home from school should use the buddy system and walk with other students.
- Students should be reminded not to accept rides from a stranger.
- Reinforce the need to run away, keep shouting for help, and go to the nearest safe spot if ever approached by a stranger.
- Once in a safe spot, students should immediately tell an adult what happened.
- Parents are asked to follow-up by reporting it to the police department and notifying the school principal.
