Red Wings Coach, General Manager to Ring Salvation Army Bell in Northville

While the current NHL lockout between owners and players has jeopardized the 2012-13 NHL season, Novi hockey fans still can see some of their favorite Detroit Red Wings in action.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock will join Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Holland will appear Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Hiller’s Market in Northville from 4:30–6:30 p.m. to raise money for the Salvation Army. Holland is serving as Honorary Chairman of the 2012 Red Kettle Campaign for the seventh straight year.

The coach and general manager's appearance is part of an effort by the Red Wings to compete amongst themselves for bragging rights across Metro Detroit to see which players and team personnel can raise the most money for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.

Former Red Wings goaltenders Chris Osgood and Manny Legace will appear from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Kroger in Plymouth Township.

Fans visiting Hockeytown Authentics in Troy between 4:30–6:30 p.m. can obtain an autograph from former players Chris Chelios and Kris Draper by making a $10 donation.

Former player Kirk Maltby and radio play-by-play announcer Ken Kal will bell ring from 5–7 p.m. at a Kroger in St. Clair Shores.

This season marks the seventh consecutive year the Detroit Red Wings and the Salvation Army are teaming up through the “Red Wings for Red Kettles” initiative to help the nonprofit reach its $8.5 million Red Kettle Campaign goal. The initiative has raised more than $45,000 for the charity since 2005.
