Woman Arrested on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated

Northville Township police arrested a woman 1:13 a.m. April 21 near the intersection of Haggerty and Cross roads on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to a police report.

The officer noted a gray 2012 Ford Focus driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone traveling east on Seven Mile Road near Pierson Drive, the report said. The officer saw the driver failed to remain in the curb lane when turning onto southbound Haggerty Road and instead merged immediately into the left through-lane without signaling, the report said. The driver then sped up to abut 58 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the report. 

The officer stopped the driver and noticed the smell of intoxicants coming from within the vehicle, the report said. The woman said she had one Blue Moon beer while at the Wagon Wheel Lounge in Northville, according to the report, and a margarita earlier in the evening.

She agreed to a preliminary breathlyzer test, which had a .17 percent result, the report said. The officer arrested and took her to the Northville Township police department where she agreed to take a chemical breath test, which had a .20 percent result, acording to the report.

During the booking process the woman reminded those in the booking room that she was a 4.0 graduate student, as she tried to unsuccessfully figure out how to work the paper towel dispenser after first trying to extract paper towels from the bond deposit box, the report said.

She has an 8:30 a.m. hearing May 1 at 35th District Court.
