Woman Reports Attempted Catalytic Converter Theft in Northville Township

The following information was provided by the Northville Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Northville Township Police met Feb. 23 at the station with a woman reported an attempted catalytic converter theft, according to a police report.

The woman told police that sometime between Feb. 14 and Feb. 18, someone had attempted to steal the catalytic converter from her 2013 Ford Escape, the report indicated.

The woman told police she does not drive the vehicle often because she is retired. She told police she first noticed the vehicle running poorly on Feb. 18 while driving around but did not know the specific cause.

She told police she took the vehicle to her auto dealership where she was told someone had used a saw to cut the exhaust system in two places, but was unable to remove the catalytic converter.

The woman told police the vehicle is at the dealership awaiting replacement parts.

According to the report, a similar incident occurred in the same area between Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.
