5 Killed In Livingston County Crash

Three people are currently in critical condition. Two people from Macomb County died in the crash as did one person from Oakland County.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI — Five people died Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Oceola Township, east of Howell, according to Michigan State Police. The fatal crash happened at about 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of M-59 and Argentine Road, police said. The names of the victims have not been released.

Three additional people are in critical condition as a result of the crash, according to Michigan State Police. At a Wednesday news conference, police said a vehicle traveling southbound on Argentine Road blew through a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle on eastbound M-59. Both vehicles were traveling at speeds of at least 55 miles per hour, which is the posted speed limit on both roads, police said.

The two vehicles landed on the other side of M-59. One of the vehicles rolled over, and the other burst into flames, police said.

The vehicle traveling southbound was driven by a 22-year-old Fenton man, who is currently in critical condition at the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor, police said. A rear seat passenger in that vehicle is also in critical condition. Two other passengers in the vehicle were killed, police said.

In the car traveling eastbound on M-59, a 39-year-old Oakland County male driver is in critical condition, Michigan State Police said at the news conference. Three people in the vehicle were killed, including a 36-year-old Oakland County woman and two 70-year-old Macomb County people, one man and one woman, police said.
