70 Gander Mountain Stores Saved From Bankruptcy
The fate of the Novi Gander Mountain is unclear, as is what stores in which states will remain open.
NOVI, MI — At least 70 Gander Mountain stores will be saved nationwide after Camping World Holdings bought all the St. Paul, Minnesota-based outdoor retailers’ assets from bankruptcy earlier this month. Gander Mountain has 13 locations in Michigan, but it remains unclear which if any of the locations — including Novi — will be kept open.
Marcus Lemonis, star of CNBC's The Profit and CEO of Camping World Holdings, confirmed the acquisition Sunday, according to a USA Today report. "About 10 days ago I bought all of the assets, all of the intellectual property, all of the trademarks, all of the leases," he said in an interview on Sunday morning. "A liquidator bought the inventory that's in the stores and they have the right to sell that inventory down."
But Lemonis said his company retains the ownership of all Gander Mountain’s 126 remaining stores, the newspaper reported. Gander Mountain filed for bankruptcy in March and closed 32 stores in 11 states. over the next several weeks. The company 1,280 full-time and part-time workers prior to the bankruptcy.

"We want to help the liquidators sell their inventory,” Lemonis told USA Today. “We don't want to be disruptive to that, but we also don't want employees thinking that they're all losing their jobs. I am definitely going to protect my people at all costs. No matter what."
On its website, Gander Mountain acknowledges Camping World Holding’s as its new owner. No further details are given as to if any of the stores will remain open during the transition. “Welcome to the team, Camping World,” the website reads. “We are excited for the future and the infinite possibilities ahead of us to serve the outdoor community Check back in Fall 2017 for more details.”
