Catholic Central Hockey Beats Plymouth, Heads to Semifinals

The Shamrocks are on the road to win the state championship.

Detroit Catholic Central is looking to capture the state title in hockey this year as the team defeated Plymouth in the quarterfinals and now moves on to the semis.

The Shamrocks beat the Wildcats Wednesday with a score of 5-1.

“It feels great,” Catholic Central head coach Todd Johnson told MI Prep Zone. “It feels like a long, long time. But, it feels great.”

CC has won seven state titles since 2000, most recently in 2010, according to the MHSAA website.

The Shamrocks will now play East Kentwood in the semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. at Compuware Arena in Plymouth.

Fans can watch the game live online at MHSAA.tv or listen to it live at MHSAANetwork.com. The audio and video will also be archived for on-demand access, and CD’s and DVD’s of all games can be ordered online.

If they win, CC will face the winner of Friday's game between defending champions Brighton and Detroit U-D Jesuit in the finals.

The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Compuware.
