Don't Forget Novi's Watering Restrictions
Residents have to water on alternate days and can only use automatic sprinklers between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

As the summer heat rolls in and lawns begin to look dry, people want to water every day.
However, Novi enforces watering restrictions.
The ordinance requires alternate day watering and that automatic, programmable underground sprinkler systems only operate during non-peak hours between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Anyone who violates this ordinance is subject to fines of up to $500 per incident.
An alternate day basis permits Novi residents to water on even-numbered days for properties with even-numbered addresses and on odd-numbered days for properties with odd-numbered addresses. Also, for those properties that take water from the City of Novi Water Supply System and are serviced by an automatic, programmable underground irrigation system, outdoor watering can only be done during non-peak hours between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The city enforces these restrictions so that the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department does not increase water rates. Also, using alternate days helps the city provide water pressure to meet the domestic and fire flow requirements for everyone.
