Marlee's, Tapper's To Host Coat Drive
The two stores in Twelve Oaks Mall will collect coats and other winter wear this November.
The official start of winter is just around the corner. While a joyous occasion for many, some metro-area residents go without basic necessities, such as a winter coat. For 20 years Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry has hosted a Coat Drive to help those in need enjoy a warmer winter. This season’s Tapper’s 21st Annual Coat Drive will be held Nov. 1-21, where local residents can support less fortunate neighbors by dropping off warm winter items and making cash donations at all Tapper’s locations.
“Our goal is to donate more than 2,500 coats, new hats, gloves and blankets to those in need before winter arrives,” said Steven Tapper, custom designer and vice president of Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, in a statement. “Tapper’s strongly believes in giving back to our community, and with the support of local businesses and generous residents, we hope to make this our most successful effort ever."
The coat drive will include drop-off bins at all Tapper’s locations, including Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, Somerset Collection in Troy and Orchard Mall in West Bloomfield; Marlee’s by Tapper’s at Twelve Oaks Mall; and all 10 Tapper’s Gold Exchange locations.

Tapper’s will also accept cash donations that will be used toward the purchase of brand-new coats, at or below wholesale prices. A $20 donation will provide a child with a coat and gloves.

It is estimated this effort has provided more than 35,700 winter items to metro-Detroit area families throughout the years.
“The gift of warmth and comfort has more meaning and value than we can imagine,” said Ann Duke, director of marketing for Tapper’s, in a statement. “We urge everyone to share in an experience that will change lives."
