On Saturday the Novi High School Marching Band will head to Ford Field to compete in the Flight I State Final Marching Band Competition starting at 7:30 p.m. in Detroit.
Highlights of Novi’s season include a first place finish at the Troy Athens competition, and a season high rating at the Huron Valley meet at Lakeland High on Oct. 27. The Wildcat Band show this year is “Heels over Head,” which is not a love story. The performance chronicles the emotional stages of teen romance following a break up. The show requires the choreographed efforts of each band member to act out the tale in addition to playing and marching responsibilities.
In September, Novi hosted 20 other bands at their home contest: Novi Fanfare. This Fanfare was one of the largest and most successful financially in Southeast Michigan.
Novi Bands continue to receive consistent superior ratings at district and state levels.
The public is invited to attend and cheer on the Novi’s marching Wildcats in downtown Detroit. While Flight 1 competition starts at 7:30 p.m., the band extravaganza features smaller schools and thousands of student participants all day long with the first band starting at 8:15 a.m.
