Novi High Seniors, Staff Face Off on the Court

The 10th annual "Senior versus Staff Charity Basketball Game" is Wednesday at Novi High School's main gym.

This year's game will be held in remembrance of Wes Leonard, a varsity basketball player for Fennville High School who died of sudden cardiac arrest in 2011, right after he scored the game winning basket to an undefeated season.

This year's charity recipient is the Wes Leonard Heart Foundation, which was established shortly after his death. This game benefits the foundation by raising money for automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools with athletic events. 

The student council at Novi High School, which has several working AEDs, established the Novi Heart Team after hearing Leonard's story. The team's goal is to donate a working AED machine to another school within the KLAA Kensington Conference. 

Tickets are $5 and everyone is invited to attend.
