Novi Meadows Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

More than 20 students won prizes for their posters depicting the week's theme to be drug free.

Novi Meadows Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week (RRW) Oct. 22-26.

During RRW, the students were challenged to draw or write a short story, poem or song in support of the school's Red Ribbon theme, which was, "There is a Leader in Me and The Best Me is DRUG FREE". There were many posters submitted with 23 winners who won gift cards provided by Novi Youth Assistance. The winning posters will be on display at the Novi Public Library in early November.

RRW at Novi Meadows incorporates the "7 Heathly Habits," which is a model
adopted by author Stephen R. Covey from the "7 Habits of Highly Effective
People".  During each day of RRW, a morning announcement was read in
support of RRW and students dressed up for "spirit days" in support of the
theme of the day which included the following:

  • Be Proactive: wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week
  • Synergize, “Together is Better”: wear Novi spirit wear
  • Put First Things First: wear neon
  • Seek First to Listen Then to Be Understood, “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully”:   wear pink
  • Think Win-Win: wear sports/activity jerseys.

In addition to the spirit days and poster contest, the school was
decorated with red ribbons both inside and outside.
