Novi Schools Go Green

Flyers will be available online instead of getting sent home with students.

Students are typically sent home with folders full of flyers, which often have information that can be easily found online.

The Novi Community School District is starting a green initiative to reduce its carbon footprint. All flyers from nonprofit organizations with information on Cub Scouts, youth bowling camp, "Mom 2 Mom" sales and more will be available for viewing online. See them here.

The idea is to cut costs, reduce paper in students' backpacks and lessen the labor and expense of the district's office staff.

To request that a flyer be posted online, submit the request and a PDF of the flyer to Bob Steeh at bsteeh@novi.k12.mi.us.

Do you think it's a good idea? What other green initiatives do you think Novi schools should try?
