Woman Attempts to Steal Sports Bra from Macy's

Novi police arrested a woman May 28 on charges of shoplifting from Macy’s in Twelve Oaks Mall, according to a police report.  

A Macy’s loss prevention officer said the woman hid a sports bra, worth $19.98, in her purse, the report said. Then she met up with some friends and headed to the exit, according to the report. 

Loss prevention officers stopped and took her into their custody and also found merchandise from Claire’s and Pac Sun, both from the Twelve Oaks Mall, the report said. Neither store wanted to prosecute the woman, according to the report.

The Novi police officer arrested her on charges of retail fraud and took her to the Novi police department, the report said. She said that she came to the mall with friends to buy graduation dresses but did not have any money, according to the report, and had never stolen before.  

She has a court hearing on July 1.
