Save the Date: 'Light Up the Night' in Novi

The event includes a tree-lighting ceremony, Santa visits, miniature train rides and a holiday craft show.

Welcome the holiday season at the City of Novi's annual "Light Up the Night" event Friday, Dec. 6. 

“With something for everyone, Light up the Night is the perfect event to bring people together. The event showcases the spirit of the holidays and the character of the Novi community,” said Jason Mangum, director of Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, in a news release. 

From 6 to 9 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center, enjoy an evening of free food samples from local restaurants, marshmallow roasting, outdoor music and the popular holiday craft show.

New additions to the program this year include: a petting farm from Michigan State University Extension, fire dancing and juggling from Detroit Circus, Five Star Entertainment food truck and live performances including Chinese and Polynesian dances. There will also be a chance to visit with Santa. 

Attendees can also check out two magic shows, featuring John the Magician, at 7 and 8 p.m. at the Novi Public Library. There will also be miniature train rides by Dan Dan the Choo Choo Man from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A festive hay wagon will shuttle people to and from the library.
