Telematics Conference in Novi Attracts Worldwide Attention

Top industry leaders - like Ford, BMW, GM, Audi, Honda and Mercedes-Benz - attended the conference.

The 13th annual Telematics Detroit 2013 conference and exhibition wrapped up Thursday at Novi's Suburban Collection Showplace.

A record number of technology and automotive officials were expected to attend the conference, according to an article on MLive.com.

Over 100 industry leaders - including Ford, BMW, GM, Audi, Toyota, KIA, Honda and Mercedes-Benz - spoke to about 2,000 executives over the two-day conference, the article said.

"The show did an excellent job of showcasing today's industry leaders in telematics," said a representative of Volvo, according to the conference's website.

Telematics is the integrated use of telecommunications and information technology, like what is used to create vehicle navigation systems.

The conference also featured the 2013 Telematics Update Awards, which included categories like Best Automotive Application Award and Industry Newcomer Award.

"We’re very proud to be recognized by Telematics Update and look forward to sharing this success on an ongoing basis with our customers and partners," said Leo McCloskey, vice president of marketing for Airbiquity, a leader in the connected vehicle services market, which won the Best Automotive Application Award.
