Weekend Planner: Hunger Walk, Japan Festival and Home Remodeling Show

Here are some things to do from Oct. 5-7 in or near Novi.

Crop Hunger Walk

  • Where: St. James Catholic Church
  • When: Sign-in is at 9 a.m. Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: The walk aims to raise funds to end hunger. Donations will go to The Novi Emergency Food Bank and other groups

Self-Defense Class for Women

  • Where: Novi Public Library
  • When: Saturday 1-2 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Women ages 16 and older are invited to learn how to protect themselves from an expert female instructor. 

Older Adult Line Dance Party

  • Where: Novi Civic Center
  • When: Saturday noon to 4 p.m.
  • Pricing: $10
  • Why Go: Adults ages 55 and older are invited to enjoy an afternoon of line dancing. Dancing for advanced students is from noon to 1 p.m. All skill levels will dance from 1-4 p.m.

Japan Festival

  • Where: Novi High School
  • When: Sunday 1-4 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: The event includes cultural presentations and performances, workshops, food and more.

Home Remodeling Show

  • Where: Suburban Collection Showplace
  • When: Friday 2-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Pricing:  $8 for adults, $7 for seniors. Children 12 and younger are free. Ticket will also get you into the RV Show. Parking is $5.
  • Why Go: The event will include numerous exhibitors for the latest products and services for kitchens, baths, doors, windows, remodeling, heating, cooling and more.

Camper & RV Show

  • Where: Suburban Collection Showplace
  • When: Friday 2-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Pricing: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors. Children 12 and younger are free. Ticket will also get you into the Home Remodeling Show. Parking is $5.
  • Why Go: More than 200 units and 50 brands will be displayed, including folding campers, motorhomes, travel trailers, truck campers, and fifth wheel travel trailers, ranging in price from $4,999 to more than $400,000.
