Weekend Planner: Pet Expo, Tastefest and Victorian Festival

Here are some things going on near Novi Sept. 21-23.

Novi Wildcat Tastefest

  • Where: Wildcat Stadium (Novi High School)
  • When: Friday at 5-7 p.m.
  • Pricing: $5
  • Why Go: Sample food from several local restaurants and cast your bid in the silent auction in this Novi Athletic Boosters fundraiser.

Fireup Fest

  • Where: Ella Mae Power Park
  • When: Friday after the football game until 11:45 p.m.
  • Pricing: $5
  • Why Go: Watch four bands compete in a battle of the bands. The event also features a rock climbing wall, inflatable fun and gigantic big screen gaming.

Fall for Novi

  • Where: Novi Civic Center
  • When: Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Learn all about Novi at this community open house. The event includes a health fair, police department open house and a perennial exchange.

Victorian Festival

  • Where: Downtown Northville
  • When: Friday 5-10:30 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Pricing: Admission is free
  • Why Go: Catch the parade at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and stop by throughout the weekend for food, entertainment, tethered air balloon rides, an enchanted fairy park, vintage baseball, a petting zoo and more.

Band Fanfare

  • Where:  Wildcat Stadium (Novi High School)
  • When: Saturday 3:20-10:30 p.m.
  • Pricing: $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors
  • Why Go: Novi High School will host 20 other schools for a band competition. View a performance schedule online.

All-American Pet Expo

  • Where: Suburban Collection Showplace
  • When: Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Pricing: $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for children
  • Why Go: See a variety of exhibitions, adopt a pet or shop for your own pet needs.

More events:

  • Drop off your cans & bottles at Busch's Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support the Novi High School band.
