Woman, 62, Killed In Oakland County House Fire: Sheriff

Officials believe the cause of the fire was accidental.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI — A 62-year-old woman was killed in a Friday morning house fire in Oakland County, according to the county's sheriff's office.

The fatal house fire happened at 10 a.m. at a home in the 4000 block of Kara Ct. in Commerce Township, sheriff's officials said.

Officials said a 911 caller told dispatchers that a person was trapped in an upstairs bedroom of the burning home.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze and found the 62-year-old woman, sheriff's officials said.

She was taken to Huron Valley Hospital where she died, sheriff's officials said.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday at the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.

There were no other injuries in the fire, sheriff's officials said.
