3 Things To Know About Small Business Saturday In Rochester
This year's downtown kickoff of the holiday shopping season includes carriage rides, prizes and of course lots of lights.

ROCHESTER, MI — Downtown Rochester is gearing up for its 8th annual Small Business Saturday program and this year includes carriage rides around town, up to $5,000 in prizes and a light show.
Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting local small businesses, city leaders say. The Rochester Downtown Development Authority has joined more than 400advocacy organizations that have made it a mission to bring business to their downtown areas on this day.

Carriage rides
Rochester Downtown Development Authority will be offering free carriage rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Small Business Saturday. The carriage rides will pick-up at the corner of East Fourth and Main Street.

Rides will be given on a first come, first serve basis with no advanced reservation accepted.
Prizes
This year, Downtown Rochester is taking part in Oakland County’s Small Business Saturday initiative. Holiday shoppers who enter a picture of their receipt from a purchase made Nov. 24 at a small business in Oakland County are eligible to win $5,000, courtesy of North American Bancard.
One second prize winner receives $2,000, courtesy of Bank of Ann Arbor, and third prize is a $500 voucher towards travel on Southwest Airlines at Flint Bishop International Airport.

Lights
The Big, Bright Light Show will also be aglow on Nov. 24 beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until midnight. The light show will run nightly through January 6, 2019.
