7-Eleven Coming Soon to Rochester Hills

It will join Jersey Mike's in the space vacated by Blockbuster on Rochester Road.

Rochester Hills will soon have its own Slurpees.

A 7-Eleven store is being built on Rochester Road across from the Hampton Village Shopping Center north of Auburn Road. According to a press release from the Southfield-based Signature Associates, 7-Eleven will occupy 2,800 square feet of the space that was formerly Blockbuster. There is a 7-Eleven store in Rochester and two in nearby Auburn Hills.

Jersey Mike's, a New Jersey-based sub shop, will open its second Michigan location next door to the 7-Eleven store. The restaurant recently opened in Ann Arbor. The Rochester Hills location will be 1,600 square feet.

Work has begun on the Jersey Mike's space; a sign was recently installed on the building. An exact opening date is not known.

According to a recent report in Crain's Detroit Business, 7-Eleven and Jersey Mike's are two companies "taking advantage of good deals on space and rebounding demand." 7-Eleven is opening seven new stores in Michigan this year; Jersey Mike's is opening 15 or more restaurants in Michigan next year, according to the report.
