Alleged Utility Scheme Snares Rochester Hills Woman
Someone claiming to be from DTE Energy recently bilked a Rochester Hills woman out of hundreds of dollars, according to police.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A Rochester Hills woman recently fell victim to a utility fraud scheme, according to an Oakland Press report. The woman told Rochester Police that someone claiming to be from DTE Energy called her and stated the she was overdue on a payment and demanded money.
“The caller said that someone called her claiming to be from DTE and told her that she was overdue on payment and that her power would be shut off. The suspect demanded payment in the form of a green dot card for more than $500, which the victim provided.”
“The case is under investigation.”
