A Look At Amazon's Plans For The Pontiac Silverdome

The Pontiac Silverdome site has been in decline since 2012. Now it will be home to more than 1,500 jobs in Michigan.

PONTIAC, MI — Amazon is making waves in Michigan. The online retail giant wants to redevelop the 130-acre Pontiac Silverdome site and details have been released. The site has been on the decline for more than seven years.

A spokesman for Amazon, told the Pontiac Planning Commission it usually doesn’t reveal its interest this early in the process but understands the significance of the site, WDIV reported.

Amazon hopes to break ground this year and build two buildings: a sorting facility and a delivery station. The project would create 1,500 full-time jobs and several hundred part-time jobs.
