Athena Group in Downtown Rochester Announces New Vice President

Richard C. Ferguson, MBA, CLTC has joined The Athena Group as Executive Vice President. Previously, Rick was with MetLife as an Investment Advisor. In addition to serving his own clientele he will be heading The Athena Group investment research area, assisting in helping clients develop strategies to reach their financial goals.

“We are excited to have Rick on board,” said Diane Young, President of the independent financial services firm. “He and I worked together at another firm some years ago and always worked well together. This is a great opportunity for him to take his financial planning practice to the next level while assisting our current clients. He brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to us.”

When asked why he joined The Athena Group, Rick responded, “It is important to me to help my clients reach their goals, and an independent firm like this is the best way for me to serve my clients.”

Rick worked in finance for over 30 years at General Motors, EDS, and A.T. Kearney prior to becoming a financial advisor in 2001. He has a MBA from the University of Detroit with a concentration in international finance and a BBA from Walsh College where he majored in accounting and marketing. His credentials include the Series 7, 66 and life and health licenses. Rick became credentialed in Long Term Care Planning (CLTC) in 2007.

In addition, Rick is active with the finance committee for St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit as well as The Skyline Club where he serves on the steering committee for the “Friends of the Vine” Club. In the past, Rick was the Finance VP and Treasurer for the Project Management Institute.

He lives in Rochester Hills and has three grown children and four grandchildren.
