Catching Fireflies, the downtown Rochester gift boutique, will be offering scented pencils & nose shaped pencil sharpeners in exchange for donated school supplies.
The donations will be distributed through Operation: Kid Equip and will benefit the needs of local school bound children.
Knowing that there are always school supplies needed for children in our community this time of year, owner April McCrumb thought it would be great to encourage families who have the luxury of buying everything on their back to school list to add some extra supplies for our neighbors that don’t have that option.

Catching Fireflies will be collecting new backpacks, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, crayons (24 pack), kid scissors, notebooks, copy paper, binders, rulers, glue sticks and tissues from the community during the month of August.
McCrumb states, “Kids get a kick out of our quirky school supplies. So as a thank you for thinking of others, we’ll be giving out a scented pencil and nose shaped pencil sharpener for five or more donated school supplies.”

“Sometimes all it takes is adding a few extra notebooks or pack of pencils and erasers to your shopping cart to make a difference,” says McCrumb. “This is just one way Catching Fireflies hopes to make days brighter for our community.”
Catching Fireflies will be collecting school supplies through August 31.
