Garden Gnomes Invited to Take Over Dinosaur Hill Children's Garden

The new children's garden at is about to be put to the test when a new Garden Gnomes class meets starting this week at the Rochester nature center.

The an extension of the popular Rochester Community Garden. Dinosaur Hill received a grant for the creation of the garden, which features raised bed planters, a shed full of garden tools and benches for demonstrations and stories.

The first children's class kicks off Thursday. Classes are 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursdays through June 7. Each child will have his or her own space to plant and decorate in the children's vegetable garden; they will sow seeds, harvest and prepare the food,  and learn about insects, soils and everything else plants need to learn and grow.

The cost is $50 ($40 for Dinosaur Hill members). The class is for children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. To register, email info@dinosaurhill.org or call Dinosaur Hill at 248-656-0999.
